A EUREKA brokerage event to facilitate research and development partnerships between SMEs in the EU and researchers from Central European countries will be held in St Pölten, Austria, from 4 to 6 November 1998. The event will be organised by the Austrian Bureau for International Research and Technology Cooperation (BIT) and supported by the Austrian EUREKA Bureau and the European Commission.

It will be organised within the framework of the EUREKA initiative which aims to promote cooperation between European firms and research institutes in the field of advanced technologies and will be the first in a series of Central European Partnering Days. The event will focus on applications of information technologies for human health.

Meetings between potential partners will be pre-arranged on the basis of a catalogue circulated to all participants prior to the event. This will allow European SMEs, who do not have the capacity to carry out research projects on their own, to meet with experts of their choice from research institutes in Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia.
