Virtual enterprises and networked solutions

A conference on virtual enterprises and networked solutions will be held in Siegen, Germany, on 2 and 3 December 1998. The conference will provide a forum for discussion on new perspectives in management, communication and information technology. In particular discussions will address the issue of information technology as a basis for new forms of organisation within enterprises.

A key feature of the conference will be the presentation of a project entitled "The virtual factory" which involved more than 20 companies in the Euregio Lake Constanze who joined together to develop new entrepreneurial solutions in order to gain competitive advantages for their industrial region through cooperation in dynamic networks.

Other topics of discussion during the conference will include:

- Virtual enterprise information system;
- New organisational structures in a networked economy;
- Manufacturing factor information and effects on the organisational structure of the enterprise.
