The thirteenth international symposium on computer and information sciences will be held in Ankara, Turkey, from 26 to 28 October 1998. The event will be organised by the University of Bilkent in Turkey and will bring together an international forum of computer scientists and engineers.

Presentations from invited speakers will cover the following topics during the conference:

- Simulations and analytical methods for the study of the performance of telecom networks;
- Stochastic ordering applied to performance evaluation;
- Performance of computer-communication networks, "Gelenbe" neural networks and their applications;
- Scheduling and resource allocation in computer and multimedia systems;
- Simulation of virtual humans.

Other topics to be addressed during the conference will be in the fields of:

- Artificial intelligence;
- Computer architecture and systems;
- Computer graphics and networks;
- Database management systems and distributed systems;
- Image processing and pattern recognition;
- Information retrieval and neural networks;
- Parallel processing and parallel algorithms;
- Performance evaluation and software engineering.
