TeleCities Seminar

A seminar on telecities will be held in Hamburg, Germany, on 7 and 8 December 1998, organised within the framework of the European Digital Cities (EDC) project, a support action of the EU's Telematics Applications research programme.

The aim of the event is to raise awareness among cities, towns and regions of the benefits of urban telematics, on the basis of the results of European joint pilot projects. The event will be composed of a series of plenary sessions and parallel workshops. The plenary sessions will cover issues related to education and training and economic development, with an emphasis on telematics services for SMEs.

The parallel workshops will cover the following:

- Quality of life for disadvantaged people;
- Economic development and telematics services for SMEs;
- Teledemocracy;
- Public administration and the city information highway;
- Standards;
- City healthcare;
- Employment and teleworking;
- Environment, education and training.
