Electronic commerce and new media

The European Institute for Anti-Virus Research will organise a conference on electronic commerce and new media be held in Aalborg, Denmark, from 28 February to 2 March 1999. It will address the theme "Managing safety, security and malware challenges effectively" and will bring together experts from industry, government, and research, as well as end-users interested in the issues.

The specific topics to be addressed during the conference will include the following:

- Malicious codes (Malware):

. Definition and taxonomy;
. Technical, social and legal matters;
. Macro viruses;

- Globalisation of business and electronic commerce:

. Social aspects of new media;
. Spamming, ethics and privacy;
. Harmonisation of laws pertaining to electronic commerce;

- Electronic payment:

. Digital cash;
. Encryption and confidence;
. Digital signatures and cryptology;

- Managing safety and security:

. Protection against technical threats;
. Assuring transaction completion in high access environments;
. Simplifying electronic procurement for suppliers.
