A symposium on the Telematic Agency for Scientific and Technological Information (TASTI) project will be held in Prato, Italy, on 6 November 1998. The event, which will take place during the fourth European Telework Week (an initiative of the European Commission), will be targeted at those with a technical or managerial background, as well as representatives from research and industry and the public sector.
Discussions during the event will focus on the opportunities presented for teleworking at local, national, regional and European levels. Issues related to telework as an opportunity for local economic development, in terms of development opportunities for SMEs and employment opportunities in the Information Society will be addressed in detail. In addition, telework as a tool for improving the services offered by public administrations will also be discussed.
Key features will include the presentation of the results of the TASTI project and an award ceremony for those who attended training on Infobroker skills during the project. The event will also provide teleconferencing facilities to enable participants to view progress in the telework and sustainable development meeting that will be held in Naples, Italy, at the same time.
