Software and knowledge engineering

SEKE'99, the eleventh international conference on software and knowledge engineering, will be held in Kaiserslautern, Germany, from 17 to 19 June 1999, comprising a workshop on learning software organisations on 16 June 1999. The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for academic and industrial researchers and practitioners to discuss the application of both software engineering methods in knowledge engineering and knowledge-based techniques in software engineering.

The event will feature half-day tutorials during the workshop preceding the main conference, at which the emphasis will be on practical applications of learning organisations and approaches. This will be followed by a three-day technical programme consisting of parallel tracks including paper sessions, panels and workshops. An exhibition on the practical applicability and usefulness of cutting edge methods and tools will also be open in parallel to the conference.

The conference organisers are currently seeking the submission of papers for presentation during the conference. Topics will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Component-based software engineering;
- Knowledge representation and retrieval;
- Measurement and empirical software engineering;
- Validation and verification;
- Software domain and process modelling;
- Web-based knowledge management.
