MARINA'99 - Planning, design and operation

MARINA'99, an international conference on all aspects of marina design, planning and operation, will be held in Lemnos, Greece, from 25 to 27 May 1999. The event will be organised by the Wessex Institute of Technology and sponsored by Marina Management International in the UK.

Discussions during the event will focus on marina design, from the initial feasibility studies, incorporating hydraulic considerations, through to engineering works related to the construction and the environmental aspects of the complete design.

Topics to be discussed in detail during the conference will include:

- Planning, legal and environmental aspects;
- Pollution control and water quality;
- Flushing characteristics and water circulation;
- Hydraulic aspects of marina design;
- Berthing and marina layouts;
- Solid and floating breakwaters;
- Pontoon services and marina maintenance.
