14th EARMA Annual Conference 2008 - Barcelona, Spain (25 - 28 June 2008)

The 14th Annual Conference of the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) will take place from 25th to 28th June 2008, at the University of Barcelona. The theme of this year’s Conference is “Shaping the Profession: Exploring the Boundaries of European Research Management and Administration”.

25 Czerwca 2008 - 28 Czerwca 2008
Spain
A Welcome Reception will take place on the evening of Wednesday 25th June, followed by two days of plenary lectures, parallel sessions, and workshops, on Thursday 26th June and Friday 27th June. In addition, a pre-conference event will take place on 25th June, which is entirely devoted to the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), and will explore perspectives from academia, industry and the European Commission (EC). This is a unique opportunity for European Research Managers and Administrators to learn more about this joint undertaking between the Commission and the European pharmaceutical industry, and to consider the issues surrounding applications and management of successful projects.

Registration for the Conference is now open. Full details on registration, accommodation options, fees, venue and programme can be found at http://www.earma2008.net/(odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

As a key instrument in the realisation of the European Research Area, research management aspects of the 7th Framework RTD Programme feature prominently in the Conference programme, including full costs and sustainability, legal issues, and project management. Other sessions will explore how research managers can add value to research funding applications and increase success rates. The Conference will also look into at the professional development of research managers and their responsibilities in terms of communicating research results. It will examine:

• the various roles and responsibilities of Research Managers and Administrators
• the skills they need to succeed, and
• how a professional organisation such as EARMA can contribute to this process

We look forward to seeing you in Barcelona!!
