EOGEO99

EOGEO99, a conference on earth observation and geo-spatial Web and Internet technologies will be held in the USA, on 9 to 11 February 1999. The workshop will bring together developers of Web and Internet based systems for Earth observation, global change, GIS and other geo-referenced data.

The conference will discuss rapid developments in Web technology relating to interfacing, searching and accessing geo-spatial data and catalogues using the Web and related Internet technologies. Held in the Washington DC area, the conference covers themes of importance to the Centre for Earth Observation programme funded by the European Commission.

The event will include presentations on resource discovery and Web developments in XML and DRF (Metadata and locating geo-resources on the Web). The design and implementation of Web gateways, EO catalogues, environmental databases, GIS systems and Map-servers will be discussed. Technical issues related to Java clients, agents and Middleware, CORBA, and OGIS will also receive attention. In addition there will be presentations on network transparent applications and data access.
