Event on issues regarding agriculture and the environment

A conference on how to balance the priorities of food production with the needs for environmental protection and enhancement will take place in the UK at the University of Warwick from 14 to 16 March 1999.
The Agriculture & the Environment - Challenges and Conflicts for the New Millennium event will provide an opportunity for policy makers, research scientists, advisors, environmental consultants, food producers and processors and those working on key aspects of environmental sciences, to share scientific knowledge describe best practice and identify gaps in current understanding.
Since there are many recognised conflicting interests within this subject this conference will address the political, strategic, and practical issues affecting the interactions between agriculture and the environment.
One of the main speakers of the conference is Marin Scheele from the European Commission's DG XI, who will speak on the second day of the conference on the subject of Sustainable agriculture.
