'For a secure new world', is the aim of the conference which will address the security aspects which affect leading edge technology and user and management issues.
The programme is set to cover the issues of government support for electronic commerce, hacking (illegal and immoral?), security beyond 2000 - the end of the end-user market?, and the early days of the UK Data Protection Act 1998. The closing address is entitled 'The Cookie Monster: Internet Privacy Issues'. There will also be a directors' briefing on 4 November, providing a complete non-technical overview of the importance of computer security, management responsibility in this area and the consequences of not investing.
Two half day pre-conference workshops on 2 November will address 'Emergency Y2K reaction' and 'telecommuting, remote access and VPNs'.
