The INFO2000 programme, managed by the European Commission's Information Society Directorate-General, is holding a mobile multimedia summit in Tampere, Finland, on 21 November 1999.
High level speakers from the European Commission and industry will gather to present the future of mobile media with a view to boosting Europe's competitiveness in the global multimedia market. Presentations will be given by coordinators of projects supported by INFO2000, and by specialists in multimedia.
The summit is part of a series of events leading up to IST 99 in Helsinki, and precedes the EuroPrix MultimediaArt 99 TV Gala.
The INFO2000 programme was set up to stimulate the emerging multimedia content industry to recognise and exploit new business opportunities. It is a market-oriented programme supporting projects in the fields of multimedia content, public sector information and multimedia rights clearance. The projects serve as best practice examples, raising awareness of the current status of developments and providing a vision of future potential.
