Wind power for the 21st century
Whilst wind energy is growing in share of the energy market, the increasing liberalisation of electricity markets in Europe presents a challenge to the wind power community to be competitive. This conference aims to bring together the wind power industry, utilities, planners, developers and researchers to initiate a global discussion. It will cover aspects such as power quality management, advanced control strategies, wind power prediction and combining wind power with other renewable energy sources such as biomass and hydro. Furthermore, these issues will be covered from the perspective of local, regional and international levels.
The city of Kassel is close to the EXPO 2000 site in Hanover and is also surrounded by several multi-megawatt wind farms, so is an ideal location for the conference, organised by WIP-Munich.
The organisers are currently seeking abstracts of papers for presentation at the conference, on the following topics:
- Strategies to increase the contribution of wind power to the energy mix;
Electricity trading, markets, policies;
Wind energy in local, regional, national and supra-national supply and distribution systems;
Wind power prediction and power plant scheduling;
Capacity credits;
Complementary power plants and storage systems for wind turbines;
Small and large hybrid systems.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is 15 March 2000.
