Daylighting and Glazing

The European Committee for Standardisation (CEN/STAR) will hold a 'Trend analysis workshop in the field of daylighting and glazing' in Paris on 5 and 6 October 2000.

The aim of the workshop is to provide an overview of the trends and the needs of research and future standardisation in the field of daylighting and glazing, in the light of recent research results, industry applications and standardisation.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

- Present standards;
- Modern daylighting and transparent materials;
- Modern results of research;
- Research needs;
- Standardisation needs.

A complete review of all aspects of all known recent results in this area will also be presented, focusing mainly on the following topics:

- Angular dependent optical properties;
- View through;
- Glare;
- Redirection;
- Diffusion and scattering (haze).
