Forward looking high technology joins forces with history in the forthcoming 'Computing Archaeology for Understanding the Past' conference in Ljubljana on 18 April.

Supported by the European Commission's Human Potential programme, the event will mark the first time that Computer applications and quantitative methods in archaeology has held a joint conference with the Union internationale des sciences préhistoriques et protohistoriques. This aims to ensure that the issues important to both can be addressed in a single location.

Archaeologists, historians, computer scientists, mathematicians, statisticians, geographers, environmentalists, cultural heritage managers and others will discuss current issues in the impact of information technology on advances in archaeological methods and theory at the conference.
