International conference on water pipeline systems
Papers on all aspects of pipelines are invited, although those addressing issues such as asset management and how to look after existing systems, targeting investment or developing a long term strategy in a changing world are particularly welcome. The conference organisers, from the BHR Group, are also keen to receive submissions that focus on information technology solutions specially tailored to the water sector.
Topics likely to be included in the conference programme include:
- Asset management: how to look after existing systems; strategies and techniques for pipeline inspection, fault diagnosis and leak detection, performance and reliability measurement; who will operate assets in future?
- Targeting investment: improving existing systems through more effective installation, rehabilitation, maintenance and material selection; economic considerations affecting decision making;
- Long term strategy: planning for future commercial and regulatory demands. Open access, common carriage and inset appointments, pipeline valuation and criticality; risk minimisation in a downsizing industry; international legislation/regulation; integrated network management; network optimisation; infrastructure management and operation; managing customer expectations.
The conference is designed for those involved in water pipeline research, development, planning, design, implementation, IT solutions, operations or customer services including engineers and specialists from research organisations, universities, contracting firms, consulting engineers and legislators as well as water industry managers, engineers, chemists and biologists.
