XML - the Commission's view

Paul Timmers, head of sector of the Research Directorate-General is to make a keynote speech at an XML Day on 'Building next generation internet applications' in Brussels on 17 October 2000.
The presentation will draw attention to the European Commission's support for XML research and development, and for piloting in the e-commerce and e-work domain, which falls under the EU Information Society Technologies programme. Mr Timmers will also highlight XML-based projects, which are located in sectors ranging from construction to digital publishing.
The 'XML Days Europe' will take place in eight European cities, each event being a one-day conference and exhibition designed to bring together IT managers, software developers and end users. The event will focus on using XML for creating next generation internet, e-commerce and B2B (business to business) applications.
