Sustainability in the information society

A call for papers for the 15th 'International Environmental Informatics Symposium' to be held in Zurich, Switzerland on 10 to 12 October 2001 has been announced.
This year's theme, sustainability in the information society, has been selected in order to broaden the scope of the discussion beyond the environmental to encompass two further dimensions of sustainability: the economic and the social.
Authors are encouraged to address risks as well as opportunities that information society technologies (ISTs) may create with regard to the goal of sustainability.
The informatics for environmental protection symposium brings together people from the scientific, public administration and business communities, who develop or use informatics applications in the environmental field. The aim of this annual conference is to document the state of the art in environmental informatics in Europe, and to foster the dialogue between theory and practice.For further information, please consult the following web address:
