British science and innovation on display in London

The UK Royal society's annual science exhibition will take part in London on 2 to 4 July.

The exhibition will enable members of the public not only to see science, engineering and technology in action, but also to meet the scientists involved in this innovative research.

The UK Royal society's annual science exhibition will take part in London on 2 to 4 July.

The exhibition will enable members of the public not only to see science, engineering and technology in action, but also to meet the scientists involved in this innovative research.

Among the 20 exhibits on show will be:

- Out of site, out of mind, the weird and wonderful life of a mitochondrion, from the University of St Andrews;
- How to genetically engineer a rainbow, from the University of Wales' college of medicine;
- Magnetic chips with everything, from the University of Durham;
- Knights in shining armour: immunity in action, from the MRC human immunology group, University of Oxford, Weatherall institute of molecular medicine and the Wellcome trust centre for human genetics;
- Putting the fizz into chemistry, from the University of Nottingham;
- Taking a jab at malaria, from the University of Oxford and the Imperial college of science, technology and medicine;
