Eurescom summit 2003
The theme of the event is 'evolution of broadband services', and its key objective is to explore the business challenges, threats and opportunities for the next generation of applications, services and communication technologies.
The summit will be relevant for executives, business professionals, service providers, equipment manufacturers, content providers, and members of the wider research community. Together they will analyse the technical issues of advanced services and technologies, as well as considering their usability and business relevance.
The event organisers plan to hold four tutorials during the summit, focussing on the following possible themes:
- rich media services to mobile devices;
- multimedia messaging services market and technology;
- web services;
- terminal evolution to accommodate 2.5 and 3G needs;
- streaming media market and technology;
- mpeg-4 and mpeg21;
- technologies for location based services;
- evolution and technical challenges of 3G standards;
- mobile IP;
- digital rights management;
- content delivery technologies.
A call for papers for the event has also been published, requesting 800 to 1500 word abstracts summarising original work on issues under the following thematic headings:
- applications and services evolution;
- device evolution;
- content related aspects;
- user acceptance and customer needs;
- platforms, system and architectures aspects;
- business aspects.
