International conference on the ethics of intellectual property rights

The Polish Academy of Sciences will hold an international bioethical conference on the ethics of intellectual property rights and patents on 23 and 24 April 2004 in Warsaw, Poland.
Topics to be addressed during the conference include:
- how does the intellectual property system affect access to essential medicines in developing countries;
- the ethics of genetic patents: the perspective of the WHO;
- ethics and patentability in biotechnology;
