Harmonization within atmospheric dispersion modelling for regulatory purposes

The third international workshop on "Harmonization within atmospheric dispersion modelling for regulatory purposes" will be held in Mol, Belgium, on 21-24 November 1994. It is supported by the European Commission, DG XII, in the framework of its COMETT II programme for education and training in the field of technology.

Air quality model developers and users from Europe and the USA decided in 1991 to organize three workshops to investigate the various aspects of atmospheric modelling. The first two workshops concentrated on regulatory purposes with an emphasis on model requirements and on model intercomparison and validation. This third workshop relates to operational models currently used in Europe.

The main topics of the workshop will be:

- Operational short-range atmospheric dispersion models for environmental impact assessments in EU countries;
- Practical applications with dispersion models;
- Intercomparison and validation of dispersion models.
