An international conference on "Utilities and solar energy" will be held in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, on 25-26 April 1996. The conference is being organized by the NUON Energy Company, on the occasion of the completion of the largest solar domestic hot water (SDHW) project in north-western Europe, the Apeldoorn Solar Project, which was partly funded by the European Commission's THERMIE programme for the promotion of European energy technology.
The aim of the conference is to highlight the importance of large-scale solar energy projects, whilst emphasizing the specific role of utilities. Expert speakers from all over Europe will address subjects such as the preparation, design and implementation of large-scale solar thermal and solar photovoltaic energy projects. Projects demonstrated will include the NUON Apeldoorn solar project, other solar heating projects, roof-integrated PV systems and a Swiss one megawatt solar chain project.
The conference is targeted at all those involved in developing, financing and implementing large-scale solar energy projects, in particular policy makers at European, national, regional and local level, utilities and their associations, those involved in large-scale housing developments (such as property developers, housing associations, urban planners, contractors and architects), manufacturers and suppliers of solar energy applications and renewable energy organizations.
