International Symposium on Food Packaging

An International Symposium on Food Packaging, entitled "Ensuring the safety and quality of foods", will be held in Budapest, Hungary, from 11 to 13 September 1996. It is organized by the International Life Sciences Institute Europe, in collaboration with DG XII of the European Commission.
The symposium will examine the nature of the interactions between packaging materials and foods and the latest techniques for analysing these interactions. Also on the agenda are the practicalities of food safety enforcement with regard to packaging in Europe and the USA, the implications of current research in areas such as recycling and re-use of packaging, and future innovations in food packaging.
In addition, there will be a presentation on the work of the Standards, Measurement and Testing (SMT) specific RTD programme in the area of food contact materials.
