EPIDOS Annual Conference and Exhibition

The EPIDOS Annual Conference and Exhibition will take place in Turin, Italy, from 16 to 18 October 1996. The conference, which is organized by the European Patent Office, in cooperation this year with the Ufficio Italiano Brevetti e Marchi (Italian Patent and Trademark Office), provides an annual meeting point for patent information users.

The theme of the 1996 EPIDOS Conference is "Patent information - a basic tool for the support of innovation". Patents play a strategic role in competitive markets as indicators of the progress of innovative activity. Patent information provides industry and researchers with a precise picture of the latest state of the art in their field. It can, thereby, help stimulate innovation and prevent the duplication of research and development efforts.

The conference will be accompanied by a public exhibition at which visitors will be able to find out more about patents and patent information. All major patent information suppliers will be represented. The Italian Patent Office, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the European Patent Office will present their respective patent systems and hardware and software suppliers will advise visitors on the latest developments. A series of public seminars will also be run in parallel to the exhibition.
