An international conference on "The impact of information technology on society" will take place in Bergen, Norway, on 29-30 September 1997.
The conference, organized by the Bergen High Technology Centre (HIB), will aim to promote a high-level debate on some of the major questions facing society in the transition to the Information Age. Representing the European Commission, Mr. Martin Bangemann, Commissioner responsible for industrial affairs, information technologies and telecommunications, will deliver a presentation on "Information Technology - a political challenge for Europe?".
