European Telematics - Advancing the Information Society

A major European conference and exhibition organized by the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Telematics Applications, "European Telematics - Advancing the Information Society", will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from 4 to 7 February 1998. The event will provide the ideal occasion to look back at the results and achievements of European research in telematics applications over the past ten years. Future perspectives in the area of telematics research will also be addressed in the context of the Fifth RTD Framework Programme.

The four-day event is of key importance to anybody interested in the Information Society of the next millenium, in particular to users of new applications, decision-makers and current programme participants. An exhibition, which will be opened by Commissioner Martin Bangemann on 5 February, will offer visitors the opportunity to view the projects highlighted during the conference, as well as demonstrations and displays of other major projects conducted under the Telematics Applications programme.
