EUFIT'98 - Intelligent techniques and soft computing

The Sixth European Congress on Intelligent Techniques and Soft Computing, EUFIT'98, will take place in Aachen, Germany, from 7 to 10 September 1998.
The Congress, organized by the ELITE Foundation (European Laboratory for Intelligent Techniques Engineering), will bring together scientists and practitioners from academic, governmental and industrial institutions to discuss new developments and results in the field of intelligent technologies.
Topics to be covered by the EUFIT conference will include:
- Basics of fuzzy set theory and uncertainty modelling;
- Neural networks - basics and applications;
- Genetic algorithms and evolutionary computation;
- Fuzzy sets in artificial intelligence;
- Neural-fuzzy systems and learning;
- Fuzzy databases and information retrieval;
- Fuzzy control - methodology and applications;
- Decision support systems;
- Data analysis and signal processing;
- Pattern recognition and image processing;
- Applications in process industry and production planning;
- Applications in traffic and telecommunication;
- Medicine and biomedical applications;
- Financial engineering and forecasting;
- Software, hardware and standards.
Contributions to any of the related topics mentioned above are welcome. Extended abstracts should be submitted by 15 February 1998 at the latest.
The event will feature an international software, hardware and book exhibition in which exhibitors will present latest developments in software and hardware products and special applications based on intelligent systems. Interested exhibitors are requested to contact the organizers for further information.
The conference will also provide an opportunity to find international partners for future collaboration in the framework of the European Network of Excellence for Fuzzy Logic and Uncertainty Modelling (ERUDIT), supported by the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Information Technologies (ESPRIT).
