OTC'98 - Offshore Technology Conference

The thirtieth annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), will take place in Houston, USA, from 4 to 7 May 1998. OTC is an international oil and gas trade show which delivers the latest technology developments in the fields of drilling, exploration, production and environmental protection.

The conference aims to display the latest developments and to offer an extensive range of solutions for offshore petroleum exploration and production. The conference will include both technical sessions and an exhibition. An EU stand will be featured in the exhibition, at which six THERMIE projects and six high technology SMEs are due to display the latest developments in the field. These exhibits will include:

- Juniper, a methodology and software for the management of uncertainty in oil field operations;
- Limited movement testing of emergency shutdown valves (ESD);
- Closed swivel for Offshore Mooring Systems;
- Nuclear silt density probe;
- Single pile platform;
- The Macdrill motor;
- New applications of drill bit seismics exploration by extension to diamond bit drilling;
- An environmentally-friendly well-testing effluent disposal system;
- Subsea optical communications system.
