FUTURE-HORIZON (Future on-/off-road transport and mobility research, cross-border cooperation strategies, realization actions and procurement processes) joins a line of very successful Coordination an Support Actions to support the activities of ERTRAC (European Road Transport Research Advisory Council) and EGVI (European Green Vehicles Initiative) or 2Zero (Towards zero emission road transport) as well as other related initiatives to strengthen the European Research Area by contributing to roadmapping actions and identifying research needs in road transport. In order to increase efficient mobility for all and to help reduce local air, noise and CO2 emissions, international cooperation with developing and emerging economies is pursued, with particular focus on facilitating collaboration between cities in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa via peer-to-peer exchange and capacity building activities. Implementation concepts for sustainable mobility are developed, their take-up is fostered by establishing contacts with international financing institutions and cooperation between European and International projects on urban mobility is encouraged. As the project activities are embedded in a multi-stakeholder network, their implementation is done in close collaboration with leading European stakeholders in transport research, including vehicle manufacturers, supply industry, research and engineering organisations. Based on this, the main objectives in FUTURE-HORIZON are:
• Provide high-quality input for ERTRAC roadmaps, strategic research agendas and future ERTRAC implementation
• Explore RTR strategies in Europe, other established markets and emerging markets
• Enable capacity-building for local and national policy makers, practitioners, entrepreneurs and operators to generate, implement and operate innovative sustainable mobility solutions
• Facilitate close cooperation with financing institutions and potential funding organisations
• Utilize the vast expertise of an elaborate stakeholder network, incorporating also external advice in project outputs
• Develop an ERTRAC dissemination strategy and disseminate key ERTRAC activities and publications
• Explore potential effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on established RTR markets and assess crisis mitigation measures
