Podsumowanie kontekstu i ogólnych celów projektu

This project aims at investigating a new measurement concept, so-called speedmeter, for gravitational wave detectors. If successful it will enable future gravitational wave observatories as the European Einstein Telescope to observe the Universe even further back in time towards the Big Bang.

We developed various theoretical and experimental building blocks required for exploring a practical implementation of the speedmeter concepts. This includes new simulation tools, development of a new type of optical thin-film coating as well as prrof-of-concept table top experiments.
