This project in HRM (management) aims at better understanding how workers see AI, their general attitude towards AI (what they think of AI), and how some aspects of their jobs change.Understanding how AI is perceived by workers can help equip organisations and HR management with a better understanding of how the meaning of work changes. This project can also help understand that there are also some misconceptions workers sometimes hold about AI. The project can also help understand how workers feel about this technological change.
The objectives of the project were the following: understanding how AI is changing some aspects of work; how workers see their jobs; the general attitude of workers towards AI (what they think of AI).
The objectives of the project were the following: understanding how AI is changing some aspects of work; how workers see their jobs; the general attitude of workers towards AI (what they think of AI).
We conducted a literature review, where we aimed at summarising what the literature says about AI in the workplace, from an HR/ sociological approach. This work helped us better define some areas to explore. After this theoretical work, we studied manager's job crafting. Job crafting has been claimed to be a way in which employees respond to the implementation of some changes, including technological change. Managers use job crafting positively.
We then explored how managers imagine Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the workplace. We found that workers have a descriptive and visionary perception of AI at work.
The last study consists of a survey (collecting data from European workers) where we investigated workers’ perception of AI and their general attitude towards it. This study showed that workers in our sample usually think that the gains from AI will be unequally distributed.The study also showed that while respondents have generally a positive attitude toward AI, they prefer a low-key implementation of AI in the workplace.
Major parts of the work was discussed at conferences, seminars, workshops. The work was also discussed in layman's terms on the occasion of activities with students and kids.

The project is expected to provide a better overview of how workers perceive AI, and an overview of some feelings and misconceptions workers may have about AI.
