Provide an effective stakeholder forum to represent EOSC actors.
Consolidate and enhance monitoring frameworks to track EOSC KPIs.
Identify strategic gaps in EOSC through the SRIA.
Develop resourcing models for a sustainable EOSC.
Implement EOSC Rules of Participation.
Collaborate with EOSC projects, partnerships, and international initiatives.
EOSC Focus aims to tackle needs around EOSC coordination, monitoring, participation, and sustainability, facilitating EOSC's development into a world-leading infrastructure to drive open science and data-driven innovation in Europe and beyond.
• analysis of the collaboration with other European Partnerships and relevant initiatives, delivering a report dedicated to the Data Spaces;
• revision of the monitoring framework, reporting the baseline values as of 2021 of the KPIs of the Partnership and the progress towards its objectives;
• preparation of a position paper focusing on the concept of "EOSC Nodes" and "EOSC Federation";
• support for the development of the SRIA 1.2 and MAR 2025-2027;
• preliminary identification of resourcing models for a sustainable EOSC;
• contribution to the preparation of the "Vademecum, A Handbook for Effective Collaboration within the EOSC co-programmed Partnership";
• creation of technical working groups on "Technology", "Impact," and "Communication and Engagement," gathering representatives from INFRAEOSC projects;
• launch of the technical coordinator's cockpit, an interactive session aimed to discuss technological challenges, use cases, and opportunities for collaboration;
• deployment of a macroroadmap, an online visual mapping of the results of EU projects developing EOSC and the in-kind contributions of EOSC-A members;
• launch of 32 country pages,showcasing key players, national policies, good practices and examples of EOSC development.
The main technical areas being discussed at the project level, and in collaboration with the other INFRAEOSC projects, result from the identification of six opportunity areas (OA) in the following domains: Persistent Identifiers, Metadata, Ontologies and Interoperability, FAIR assessment and alignment, User&Resource Environments, Skills, Training, Rewards, Recognition & Upscaling, Open Scholarly Communication.
A series of National Tripartite Events targeting 29 countries to date and engaging more than 2900 participants, supported by the project, has had an outsize effect on building the national-level communities around EOSC, sharing the knowledge and good practices, and aligning strategic activities and decision-making across the Member States and Associated Countries.
Collaboration with the DSSC has also been developed, involving contributions to the Strategic Stakeholder Forum and the organisation of 3 joint sessions in 2023.
In sum:
● The EOSC-A is actively contributing to shaping the future of EOSC post 2027 and EOSC Focus contributed to better understand the EOSC activities and uptake at country level and in planning a clear roadmap on how to anchor EOSC in FP10;
● The EOSC-A, with the support of EOSC Focus has taken a steering role in the definition of the EOSC Federation, starting with the design of the concept of the Nodes engaging key stakeholders;
● EOSC Focus has played a substantial role in improving coordination and facilitating collaboration among the HE INFRAEOSC projects. Several “Opportunity Areas” among the projects have been identified and will be further discussed in a Winter School planned for January 2024;
● EOSC Focus also supported the EOSC Partnership in introducing a co-branding approach, adopted by numerous projects;
● The EOSC Association has initiated a structured collaboration with the DSSC, and a strategic joint roadmap is on the horizon for 2024;
● The EOSC community is also steadily growing thanks to a better understanding of EOSC and its potential, facilitated by several initiatives promoted with the support of EOSC Focus.
