Periodic Reporting for period 1 - MESEO (MUTI-MISSION EFFICIENT AND SECURE HIGH CAPACITY END-TO-END EO)
Okres sprawozdawczy: 2023-12-01 do 2024-11-30
In this way, MESEO will overcome potential performance bottlenecks either on board or on ground while ensuring Space data sovereignty. The main goal of the proposed approach is to improve quality of service and timeline reactivity by improving the End-to-End EO chain at different levels and processing edges while reducing communication bandwidth and incorporating new technology optimised in power consumption and processing capabilities.
- WP4 we dug into the principle of data sovereignty to deduce the capabilities that could be expected from the system in addition to the identification of external interface requirements.
- WP5 has started the System Risk Analysis, relying on the previous work package 4 results. The analysis of expected functions had been done to refine and complete data sovereignty requirements from WP4, external interface requirements had been precised and their application extended to system inner interfaces under conditions. Key performance indicators needed to assess system activities performance had been identified.
- WP6 has started working on the developments for the on-board processing chain. The on-board architecture has been designed considering the identified Functional/Performance Requirements, including the WP4-WP5 requirements.
- WP7 has presented an architecture that enables the distribution of processing activities based on the Function as a Service (FaaS) paradigm. This approach has laid the groundwork for defining the Earth Observation Control Center (EOCC) and the Ground Processing functions, aligned with the global design outlined in WP4.
- WP8 established the foundational architecture for our end-to-end environment, spanning from initial image acquisition to the production of thematic products (Crop Classification and Methane detection). The project partners provided detailed specifications for each component of the E2E workflow, including input/output requirements, hardware/software specifications. The initial E2E design has been completed for workshop 1 implementation. The section about the improvements and the metrics will be implemented before the activity of T8.2 and T8.3 will start.
- Within WP9, the communication, dissemination and exploitation plan and tools were established. This plan details the communication, dissemination and exploitation strategy, activities, as well as the tools to implement them. All digital tools (website / social media) were set up and are being maintained, the project graphical design and promotional material were prepared and are being used for promotional purposes. An initial stakeholder map was created and is being updated. Project videos were published as well as the first podcasts, and a first virtual webinar was held. Synergies with other relevant Horizon projects were established.
• availability of the cloud based processing chains which will be managed by the maintenance plan;
• integrity and confidentiality of the data which will be addressed following a risk analysis to design proper protections up to the operations;
• an innovative Data Sovereignty mechanism which will be managed through metadata attached to data defining its data usage policies.
MESEO will performance enhancements analysis to tackle major bottlenecks on each link of the EO data processing running either on board or on ground.
