Periodic Reporting for period 1 - Toopi-Regen (Toopi Regen: Unleash the power of urine to finally scale a real closed loop and regenerative farming system)
Okres sprawozdawczy: 2024-01-01 do 2024-12-31
Toopi Organics addresses these pressing issues through an innovative solution: upcycling human urine into microbial biostimulants using a patented fermentation process. This approach offers farmers an effective, safe, and sustainable alternative to traditional fertilizers. Our biostimulants enhance nutrient use efficiency, increase soil biodiversity, and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fertilizers.
Supported by the EIC Accelerator, our project aims to scale this closed-loop regenerative agricultural model across Europe. By 2027, we plan to deploy our system in key agricultural countries like Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. The ultimate objective is to substitute a significant share of mineral fertilizers, contributing to the €230B global fertilizer market while promoting sustainable farming practices and improving farmers’ profitability.
This project aligns with EU priorities on circular economy, climate action, and sustainable agriculture, offering a scalable and replicable solution to global environmental challenges.
Urine Collection Optimization (WP1):
We developed solutions to ensure a consistent quality of urine collection in buildings, achieving a high compliance at rest areas.
Field Trials (WP2):
Several field trials were conducted in Europe during the 2024 spring and autumn seasons. These trials provided valuable preliminary insights into the efficacy of our biostimulants under diverse soil and climatic conditions. Further trials are planned for 2025 to strengthen these findings.
Market Studies (WP3):
Initial market analyses confirmed strong potential in several countries, supported by growing interest in circular economy practices. However, key analyses, such as SWOT assessments and segmentation, will be completed in 2025 to refine our market entry strategy.
These achievements form a strong foundation for scaling our solution and advancing sustainable agriculture in Europe.
Key results achieved so far include:
Technological Innovation: Effective stabilization of urine quality ensures scalability and compliance.
Preliminary Field Trial Success: Trials demonstrate promising performance across diverse conditions, highlighting the adaptability of our biostimulants.
Market Potential: Positive reception in target countries underscores a growing demand for sustainable solutions.
Future steps include improving technical processes, completing market studies, and addressing regulatory challenges. Building strategic partnerships and enhancing awareness among stakeholders are critical to unlocking the full potential of this innovation.
