The TURNET project set-up a new family of machine-exchange messages for tourism information systems.
The first objective of the project consists of developing tools necessary to gather the local tourist information, and then helping to set up the presentation of the information, taking into consideration the established structure. The structure of the future data base should allow a proper extraction of data for transmission by EDIFACT. The organisation of the information into modules will be pursued. If necessary, specific developments will be made, and code lists will be compiled.
The ergonomists and tourism specialists will contribute by giving "paper" documents, necessery for collecting data on site, to the information suppliers.
The second objective of the project is to associate the TOURNET project with related projects in the European Union and Eastern European Countries.
This association will allow the constraints linked to diffusing tourist information through DGS and travel agency networks to be studied. The goal is to define the data selection criteria, the conditions of use, and the ergonomics of the messages presented to the agents using the information.
