Wyniki nadające się do wykorzystania
Within the distributed computing field, the standards-based initiative from the Object Management Group (OMG), known as Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), is having increasing success. A set of CORBA-based management facilities developed can be used within applications based both on CORBA and on other existing standards, such as Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Common Management Information Protocol (CMIP). This inter-operable use results in a significant enrichment of the CORBA environment and in the integration of standard management with CORBA.
Extensions of Orbix, a leading CORBA infrastructure, have been added that make it easier to manage. This Orbix extension is visible via a management facility called CORBA Agent. Other CORBA-based management facilities (Notification, Logging, Application Definition, Discovery, Connectivity) have also been implemented. The management facilities can be used either by management applications based on CORBA or by applications based on CMIP. The latter include applications of Bull's ISM/OpenMaster management product (Event, Alarm, Performance, Monitor, Assistant), and extensions to these applications for the management of CORBA have been carried out. The communication between ISM/OpenMaster and Orbix is done via a CMIP to CORBA gateway.
