Cofunding of the CERN Fellowship Programme

Final Report Summary - COFUND-CERN (Cofunding of the CERN Fellowship Programme)

For more than 50 years, CERN has operated a trans-national Fellowship programme which is widely considered to be a successful high-level research and training programme in particle physics and in related disciplines of physics and engineering. It offers scientists and engineers challenging opportunities for career development. CERN-COFUND is an extension of the existing Senior Fellowship programme, co-funded by Marie Curie Actions. These fellowships have been branded "CERN-Marie-Curie COFUNDed Fellowships in Particle Physics and Advanced Technologies”.
CERN-COFUND Fellowships are awarded exclusively to the top 10% of applicants to the CERN Fellowship programme. Successful candidates are offered 3-year contracts instead of the standard 2-year duration.
A feature of this Fellowship is the opportunity for the Fellow to spend all or part of a year outside CERN at a 'host' institute to develop in their field of research. In order to assist Fellows in their career development search, the attached documents are provided as branding and input to facilitate international mobility for the third year: a letter for prospective employers to explain about CERN-COFUND (see example in attachment "attestation_WAGNER.pdf") as well as a certificate stating that the Fellow has been a COFUND Fellow at CERN (see example in attachment "attestation_WAGNER2.pdf").
The existence of COFUND at CERN is mentioned specifically on CERN's EU Office web page: http://cerneu.web.cern.ch/cerneu/eu_projects/fp7/#COFUND-CERN
