Phenotypic differentiation of mesenchymal progenitor cells within differential inflammatory environments

Cel

Quality of life is very important in the context of European policy objectives. The anticipation of life expectancy and improved quality of life amongst younger Europeans, combined with an ageing population and associated increasing healthcare cost burden on society, means that new, cost-effective and efficacious medical treatments are required. In this context, Tissue Engineering (TE) has the potential to save lives, relieve suffering and meet the improved quality of life expectations.

TE is a rapidly emerging collection of technologies aimed at the regeneration of tissues and organs for the treatment of disease and injury. Advances in basic biology as well as in material science provide us with great progress in the biomedical field. TE strategies together with the advances in mesenchymal stem cells knowledge represent a very promising combination.
