Speculative Trade in Auctions with Secondary Markets

Cel

The current project aims at the development of a promising application of Game Theory: the study of auction markets with resale in which some bidders are interested in the consumption of the good (\"buyers\"), and some bidders are interested in the good because of its resale opportunities (\"speculators\"). This problem has not been addressed by the existing literature. To cover this problem a game theoretic model will be developed. To accomplish the project Dr. Hernando-Viviane will spend a whole academic year in the Economics Department at University College London. This is one of the leading institutions in Europe in Economic theory, and especially auction theory and its applications. This institution has not only the scientific expertise but also the facilities required to conduct top academic research. Moreover, this institution is very much involved in the transfer of scientific knowledge to real life practitioners. Dr. Hernando-Viviane has a solid CV; with two accepted publications in two Economics top journals, Journal of Economic Theory and Games and Economic Behaviour, in the field of auction theory. He is also a quite dynamic researcher. He has participated in top scientific meetings, and he has given seminars in a number of universities. Moreover, he has held positions of significant responsibility in his current position at the Universidad de Alicante. This project may also give an important stimulus to Dr. Hernando-Viviane academic career. It can help him overcome the difficulties to interact with other researchers in his field at the highest level from his current positioning University of Allocate. Moreover, it will provide him with the unique opportunity of having first hand contact with real life problems of auction design. The current project may also have beneficial spillover towards the creation of scientific links between two natural partners, University College London and the Universidad de Alicante.Dr. Herman#
