The research proposal regards the application and development of novel techniques of landscape archaeology as historical ecology in the Vulsinian area (central Italy). The Project has a series of scientific objectives, which collectively seek also to simultaneously provide a wide experience and training for the researcher:

2) The historical reconstruction of the territorial exploitation of the area.
3) T he definition of the human causes for territorial change and particularly for increased erosion.

6) The testing new methodologies of archaeological surveying in a historical ecology perspective.
7) The Bagnoregio area survey.

The researcher will work with a multidisciplinary team and bring other specialisations to the University of Cambridge and he will also be engaged within a network of both European and international geoscientists and archaeologists.

The research project is structured into six phases, within a period of 24 months, summarised below:

II) Bibliographic researches (three months);
III) Field surveys and pottery analysis (two months, divided into two field seasons of 30-day search);
