Cel

OREST is a Specific Support Action aimed to encourage the participation of actors from the selected new member states in European activities, and to stimulate innovative small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in taking an active role in the realisation of the European Research Area. The partners of OREST are a non-profit entity and a SME working in the neighbouring regions in Poland (West-Polish Voivodships) and Germany (Federal States of Brandenburg and Berlin), who want to stimulate and support the cross-border regional co-operation in the fields of Transport Technology in transport related Information and Communication Technology and Energy Technology. The focus area of the Specific Support Action is around the former outer border of the European Union, the Odra Region in Eastern Germany and Western Poland. Actors in the targeted thematic fields from other new member states, especially SMEs, will be specifically addressed and invited to co-operation on the development of future projects. The aim is to strengthen the competitiveness and cohesion of the cross-border region alongside the Odra River by stimulation of participation of innovative SMEs in Research and Technical Development (RTD) projects within the 6th Framework Programme of the European Union and to contribute to the integration of the selected new member states into the European Community. To achieve the goals, the partners of OREST will stimulate virtual networks, providing a contact platform for information and co-operation, which will explore available online CEC services, and will contribute to the preparation of future community RTD activities. OREST strives at strengthening of international co-operation in the sustainable transport and at encouraging actors from the selected new member states to contribute to Surface Transport programmes on local, national and European levels.
