Final Report Summary - AMI-SME (Analysis of marketing information for small and medium-sized enterprises)

The ultimate aim of the AMI-SME project was to deliver a solution that meets the information requirements of international marketing and sales endeavours. Specifically, it aimed to gather, analyse and store essential information for Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) which had the intention of entering or had recently ventured into the international market. SMEs that did not have the capacity to conduct detailed market analyses of their own have been provided with a general framework that can be further customised to facilitate country and industry selections. In addition to self-explanatory elements, consultancy services were offered for various activities in the internationalisation process.

The main outcome of the project was a software prototype which was based on the organisational user requirements. Namely:
- it provides information regarding internationalisation processes and strategies, target markets, their products and services, market potentials, competitors, legal issues, sales organisation, as well as marketing events;
- it constitutes an information search and analysis tool accessible over the internet with integrated document storage and knowledge organisation; - it supports systematic search activities that go beyond single-step retrieval and combines search engines that are available on the internet with a flexible storage system for documents and knowledge items obtained from a search.
