Development of the Gas-Solid Vortex-Rotor Reactor

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - GSVRotor (Development of the Gas-Solid Vortex-Rotor Reactor)

Okres sprawozdawczy: 2015-06-01 do 2016-11-30

The present project involved the design, implementation and testing of a prototype reactor, the GSVRotor (Gas Solid Vortex Rotor), that is an improvement of the current GSVR (Gas Solid Vortex Reactor) technology. The idea emerged from the results of comprehensive research under the Original ERC Advanced project MADPII, where the GSVR technology and its possible industrial applications are investigated theoretically and experimentally. Aim of both projects is to develop innovative reactor technologies with significant potential for Process Intensification.
By the end of the project (November 30th 2016), an unit supporting the prototype device and the analytical infrastructure necessary to collect data for characterization of the GSVRotor performance, was designed, constructed, fully commissioned, and experimental tests were performed. Main experimental tests comprised the hydrodynamic characterization of the newly designed prototype that allows proper comparison of GSVR vs. GSVRotor technologies.
The concept of GSVRotor has been proven successfully. Apart from the fields of application of the GSVR technology, novel fields of applications are suitable for the GSVRotor. It also counts with key new elements that are substantially different from prior art.
Therefore IP protection will be sought and deemed crucial for further commercialization of the GSVRotor concept.
