The deliverable will built upon available transferability methods, which will be customised to the specific needs of the 88 urban nodes taking into account their diversity and uniqueness such as the need for regional coordination, land use planning, infrastructure and technology development for better urban transport flow, connectivity and urban sustainability.
Preliminary recommendations for CEF/TEN-T guidelines"""To support discussions within the EC on CEF/TEN-T guidelines, preliminary recommendations will be made that focus on improving synergies between CEF/TEN-T and urban nodes "" "
Validated recommendations on the integration of the 8 individual urban nodes in the TEN-T networkThe consortium aims to gather valuable input from 8 individual urban nodes cases by organizing one-day workshops in the first year of the project for every urban node.
Appraisal methodology and guidelines on its application for WP3 and WP4 workshopsPragmatic appraisal methodology for assessing and validating solutions with stakeholders.
Synthesis document for nodes 1 to 18 incl. grouping of solutionsGrouping assessed and validated solutions in sessions for nodes 1-8.
Validated recommendations for future research needs and funding (in relation to FP 9)On the basis of the additional experiences gained with the Tier 2 and Tier 3 deployment, final recommendations about future research needs and funding will be made. These recommendations will be developed in a consultative process with the funding experts that are part of the Expert Pool.
Validated recommendations from the tier 2 experience, grouped by node-typeThe deliverable will be derived from interaction with 2nd tier urban nodes and will focus on urban system innovations (infrastructure, policies and technologies) appropriate to address nodal challenges for different clusters of urban nodes.
Final VitalNodes Toolbox (mark 2) – based upon experiences gained with Tiers 1, 2 and 3The results and experiences gained by the Tier 1, 2 and 3 workshops will be used to further fine-tune and enrich the VitalNodes toolbox and result in the delivery of the final VitalNodes toolbox.
Format for VitalNodes workshops for Tier 1, 2 and 3 urban nodes and future casesLessons learned from the Vienna workshops are used to create a format and basic script for following workshops (for Tier 1, 2 and 3) and will offer a framework to get more and specific insights in the integration of the Urban Node in the TEN-T network.
Validated recommendations for future research needs and funding (in relation to FP9)/2The consortium will produce a final recommendation report in which possible synergies of various EU policy and funding instruments (with a broader perspective than CEF/TEN-T alone) for more effective integration of urban nodes into the TEN-T corridors are described.
Recommendations glossy versionTo ensure the communication of key-recommendations provided by VitalNodes, the project will publish a selection of key recommendations provided by the WPs 3, 4 and 5 in a glossy version.
Communication tools package (including website, leaflet, results brochure, VitalNodes general presentation and templates)The website will be the central hub for communication about urban nodes. The website will include a public section as well as a workspace for registered VitalNodes members. The website will address the 6 VitalNodes dimensions, and will also include a ‘NodesBook’: a section that provides a webpage for each urban node on the TEN-T, providing contact details, overview of innovative solutions and their impact (D2.1), and case study material, if available. The website will also include the VitalNodes toolbox as developed in WP3 (D3.4, D3.5). A leaflet will be produced including the objectives, activities and contact details of the project. An electronic newsletter will be issued each 4 months, highlighting then current achievements of the project, the MG5.1 projects, TEN-T urban nodes news and TEN-T relevant CIVITAS2020 news. VitalNodes will issue a results brochure, highlighting achievements from the project and best practices in the field of urban nodes.
Validated recommendations on the integration of the urban node Vienna in the TEN-T networkThe consortium aims to gather valuable input from the Vienna pilot case by organizing two one-day workshops in the beginning of the project.
Synthesis document for nodes 1+8 incl. grouping of solutionsGrouping assessed and validated solutions in sessions for nodes 1-8.
Overview of solutions and their (potential) impactCurrent solutions and their impact on accessibility, liveability, economy and vitality.
Agenda and road map for the next 3 years after projects closure with dedicated responsibility. The agenda and road map will be delivered in one document. Drafts will be carried out for evaluation and finally approved by the Advisory Board. This agenda includes an overview of the responsibilities to be present at various European and local events (such as Polis, TRA, TEN-T days, etc.) longterm arrangement will be part of the deliverable.
Preliminary recommendations for future research needs and funding (in relation to FP 9)To support discussions within the EC on research needs and funding in relation to the successor of Horizon2020 (FP9), preliminary recommendations will be made that will be based on the results of WP2 and WP3.
Validated recommendations funding instruments and needsA preliminary report presenting recommendations on funding instruments and needs will be drafted and discussed with funding experts from the Expert pool and the Advisory Board, for which a webinar will be organised.
Validated recommendations from the tier 3 experience, grouped by node-typeThe deliverable will provide reccommendations for the integration of system innovations in all 88 urban nodes on the basis of an urban node typology and 3rd tier urban node interaction.
A first version of this enriched toolbox will be delivered after the Vienna pilot case, which will be used for the deployment workshops covering the Tier 1, 2 and 3 urban nodes.
