Eco-sleeve is a propellant-free technology for Aerosols, generating high pressure to provide the familiar consumer experience of continuous dispensing.

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - Eco-sleeve (Eco-sleeve is a propellant-free technology for Aerosols, generating high pressure to provide the familiar consumer experience of continuous dispensing.)

Okres sprawozdawczy: 2017-08-01 do 2018-01-31

Current methodologies for the continuous dispensing of liquids are all based on the use of gas-propelled dispensers, commonly known as aerosols. Aerosols have been in wide use for more than 70 years and have significant drawbacks, due to the presence of compressed gas:
• Aerosols incur high manufacturing and handling costs, many related to safety and environmental regulations.
• The gas, metals and chemicals required by aerosols are harmful to the environment.
• Aerosols are confined to using pressurized packages that must be rigid and cylindrical, leaving brands with minimal opportunity to differentiate their product packaging.
• Aerosols have inherent safety issues, including the risk of fire and explosion.
For years, brands and consumers alike have been waiting for a gas-free continuous dispenser technology that is safe, eco-friendly, cheap and that allows a wider variety of package forms.
The objective is to develop an innovative propellant-free dispensing technology that provides an aerosol-like dispensing experience for the end user, with the following significant advantages:
1. Enabling the use of safer, lighter, cheaper, recyclable packaging materials, such as plastic, cardboard and biodegradables
2. Supporting a cleaner environment by eliminating the use of harmful gases, coatings and preservatives, while also reducing carbon emissions
3. Eliminating package design restrictions, opening exciting new horizons for brand differentiation via design freedom and creativity for continuous-dispensing packaging
4. Reducing the cost of continuous-dispensing packages
The purpose of the feasibility study conducted was to analyze the target market segments for the product and the existing supply chain, explore go-to-market alternatives for the product and study the intrinsic customer economics (and any other considerations) for supplying the market with a propellant-free alternative to conventional continuous dispensers.
full Life Cycle Analysis of the product and its impact on the environment – as compared with existing options – was conducted by an independent party, based on EU and international standards. The results indicate significant advantages, including:
• reduced climate change effects
• reduced impact on human health
• reduced exploitation of natural resources
• a positive effect on water depletion
• reduced energy requirements for packaging production
Significant advantages for both brands and consumers were demonstrated, including aspects such as marketing and safety. Regulative, performance and cost factors were analyzed, confirming the economic feasibility of the proposed product.
The market need for propellant-free continuous dispensers is clear; numerous market segments are addressable, each capable of sustaining a robust business on its own.
