Periodic Reporting for period 1 - SMIMS (Single Molecule Imaging Mass Spectrometry)

The goal of this project was to demonstrate the commercial suitability of mass measurement as enabled by interferometric scattering microscopy through the construction of a commercial prototype, software improvements and interactions with potential stakeholders. We have achieved these key goals throughout this project. Achieving these goals contributed significantly to the establishment and significant funding of a spin out company (Refeyn), which employs 30 people and has sold more than 20 instruments worldwide. The first instrument, an extension of that envisioned in this proposal, won a number of awards at the end of 2019 and the company is currently embarking on significant series A fundraising.
