Quantum information transfer between hole spins and topological states

Periodic Reporting for period 4 - QUIST (Quantum information transfer between hole spins and topological states)

Okres sprawozdawczy: 2024-05-01 do 2024-10-31

Large-scale quantum computers have the potential to address large societal challenges. Semiconductor quantum dots define a compelling starting point for building such computers. However, it is currently unclear how to scale quantum dots to large numbers. One vision is based on networked computing, where local registers of qubits are interconnected using long-rang quantum links. This proposal aims to build such local registers, realize long-range quantum links, and integrate them together as a step toward scalable quantum technology.
This project has resulted in the demonstration of qubit registers, operated with high-fidelity, and scaled in two dimensions. Furthermore, this project has led to the realization of quantum links, that can connect remote qubit registers. Additionally, a novel qubit has been realized, the hopping spin qubit, which constitutes an implementation that requires low power, can be operated with baseband pulses, and can be operated in low magnetic fields. These advances together provide key elements for the realization of scalable integrated quantum circuits.
This project has contributed to work that advanced the state-of-the-art in numbers of quantum dots operated and has led to the realization of the hopping spin qubit.
