Internet of Things (IoT) platform for concrete strength measurement and Machine Learning (ML) predictions in construction.

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - cloudsensing (Internet of Things (IoT) platform for concrete strength measurement and Machine Learning (ML) predictions in construction.)

Okres sprawozdawczy: 2019-08-01 do 2020-01-31

The construction sector is expected to grow by a whopping 85% by 2030. However, a major problem is the uncertainty in concrete strength, which is a core material in this industry. Assessing concrete strength in real-time during the construction process is crucial, as it can help improve performance, safety, and project management. Current measurement methods for this estimation of concrete strength are not fully reliable or costly and time-consuming.
Cloudsensing wants to offer a revolutionary service. A new set of easy-to-install and autonomous sensors that are currently in the latest stages of development. Cloudsensing named it CoSMoS (Concrete Strength Monitoring System). The data collected by the CoSMoS sensors is sent to the cloud and processed real-time, making it available instantaneously through the end-user application, offering the necessary insights to make the proper, timely decisions throughout the construction site.
The EU funded feasibility study has let cloudsensing assess the marketability of CoSMoS, better defining the targeted group of customers and the accompanying business model.
Over the course of the last 6 months, cloudsensing’s team together with external advisors, consultants and EU coaches, have been working on the following main activities:
- Validating the market.
- Understanding the Value to the Customer and pricing the product.
- Defining marketing strategies to better attract customers.
- Preparing an operations plan, including business and engineering activities with milestones for both.
- Creating an IP and branding strategy.
- Finding stakeholders to partner up with and test the MVP.
- Iterate in the design of the product.
As a result, it has been discovered that the market is fit for CoSMoS and there’s an urgent necessity for such a solution. As such, the CoSMoS platform is going to be further elaborated on.
Thanks to the feasibility study and the support offered by the EC, the project has matured in many aspects and the necessary modifications have taken place in vision, strategy, and business model to make CoSMoS a more robust and attractive product in the market.
Compared to the stage this project was in prior to this SME Phase 1, not only there have been the above mentioned updates based on the feasibility study, but thanks to the field tests performed, the engineering team used the customer feedback to create an improved version of the product, especially on the hardware side.
All those facts will let us continue working on CoSMoS towards a successful commercialization.
